It is a dental procedure carried inside the tooth (the root canal system). It's done when pulp inside the tooth gets inflamed or infected due to  decay, repeated dental procedures, faulty crowns, or a crack or chip in the tooth.

Understanding Root Canal Therapy

Root canal therapy focuses on eliminating infection completely from within the tooth and hence avoiding the need to extract the teeth. After the infected pulp  is removed, the root canal system is cleaned and sterilized, and the tooth is filled and sealed to stop future infection.

Delaying Root Canal Treatment

Since the infection may spread to surrounding teeth and bone, postponing a root canal might worsen pain and swelling. It could ultimately give rise to more serious dental issues, such as having to remove the diseased tooth.

  2. Removal of Infected Pulp: A hole is drilled to gain access to the concerned tooth’s insight  to remove the infected pulpR
  3. Cleaning and Filling: The canal cleaned, shaped, and disinfected before being filled and sealed with gutta-percha.
  4. Crown or Filling: For enhanced protection and adding strength an crown or filling is done

Post procedure care

Regular visit to dentist for ensuring the proper recovery of teeth which received root canal.. This also helps in maintaining good oral hygiene is essential & prevents  further infections.
